Hey fam
Welcome to Flora’s Food Stories, the heart behind the heat in your Egusi and Jollof.

We’re Flora and Sarah, a Cameroonian mother-daughter duo bringing homemade African food to the vibrant streets of India 🇨🇲❤️🇮🇳. And this right here? This blog? It’s our table. It’s where we’ll serve more than just food, culture, memories, and connection.

How It All Started

Our journey began like many African kitchens do — with mama humming a hymn, pots clanging, spices blooming in hot oil, and stories flowing between generations.

When we moved to India, we missed that. The taste of home. The smells. The soul. And we knew we weren’t the only ones.

So we turned our craving into a calling. From the first batch of puff-puff to our full-blown kitchen today, Flora’s African Restaurant was born out of love, homesickness, and a mission:
👉🏽 To feed bellies and remind people where they come from.

Why This Blog Exists

Indian folks always ask:
What’s that green soup?
Why is your rice orange?
Is this spice from Africa?

And instead of just answering one-on-one, we thought:
Let’s write it down. Let’s tell the stories behind the food.

Also, let's be honest, we love to cook. cooking has been such anamazing poart of our lineage, passed fom generation to generation of both women and men in our family and comunity, so it's not been a hassle, we're just sharing a part of that shared deeply rooted part of us, with you, just how we know how to do it. that' why our foood does taste like it's homemade, because it actually is.

Here’s what you can expect here:

  • The origins and meanings behind your favourite dishes

  • Behind-the-scenes peeks into our kitchen chaos (and joy!)

  • Adaptations we’ve made using Indian ingredients

  • Real stories about food, family, and faith

  • Cultural collabs — because African and Indian fusion is a vibe.

What’s Next?

We’ll be posting twice a month (or more when we’re feeling spicy. Up next:

We hope you feel welcome here. Whether you’re African, Indian, or just hungry for culture, this is your space too. Do stick around with us, and also learn how to make some of our comfort foods( if you're feeling like it).
